He has caught, and released, a lot of fish and pleased a lot of amateur and experienced anglers. A full safety briefing and instruction is given before departure.

Phantom Charters operates out of Whakatane and specialises in group fishing and dive charters.  Phantom Charters is owned and operated by Ken & Bev Greenhough. The Phantom is an 11m alloy, Senator Catamaran that is stable, fast with heaps of room to fish and dive from. There is a toilet and shower on board and is very comfortable for fishing with 8 to 10 people. We fish from Matata west of Whakatane, out to White Island and east past Te Kaha. We have a dive master instructor available on request. If required we can supply bait and tackle. We have excellent rods and reels for deep-water fishing along with plenty of rods and tackle for bottom fishing.  We specialise in providing personalised fishing and dive charters out of Whakatane to groups of up to 8 people and cater for the experienced angler to the first time angler.

Hi there, my name is Shane French and I run Dragonfly River Guides out of the Waitahanui Lodge. I have been guiding for the past three years and have an extensive knowledge of the surrounding area. My fishing of the main Taupo river systems goes back 33 years and due to this I can get you onto the winter run fish fast and generally where other anglers are not grouped. The rivers I fish in the Taupo fishery are the Waitahanui, Hinemaiaia, Tauranga Taupo, Waimarino, Waiotaka and the Tongariro. These will fish right through to December this year with the winter run trout running later than normal.
