Basic Instincts Hunting and Fishing Safaris is based in the Rotorua area and offers unique adventures in hunting and fishing that is geared to provide your entire family with an unforgettable experience. Basic Instincts promotes sharing the outdoors with the family as well as the responsibility of hunting, fishing and conservation.
We offers several hunting options for Red, Sika and Fallow deer, including trophy animals as well as Goat and Trophy Goat. In addition, we also offer Clay Bird shooting at our Raetihi and Mamaku block. We fly by helicopter to the Mamaku block, there we can have a BBQ lunch, go target shooting on the rifle range, or stalk a deer, either shoot it or take a photo of it. we can also give each person a trial flight in a helicopter, were you take the controls. We are only 8 kms from offroad nz. All  this provides a good day out,

Hunting
With over 8000 acres of Privately Owned prime New Zealand wilderness, Basic Instincts Hunting and Fishing Safaris can provide you with several locations for your hunting adventure, each with it's own unique views, vistas and terrain.  Quad bikes are supplied and helicopter transportation is also available (weather dependant).

Mamaku Block - the Mamaku block is nestled in the rolling Mamaku hills, just outside of New Zealand's major tourist destination, Rotorua. Spend a day hunting Red and Fallow Deer in the Mamaku hills with the family, then take in the sights and attractions that Rotorua has to offer. Day Hunts ONLY.

Raetihi Block - the Raetihi Block is nestled near the base of New Zealand's most popular and majestic mountain and volcano, Mount Ruapehu. We offer Red and Fallow Deer as well as Goats for those ambitious hunters. In addition we can provide you with access to Trophy Deer and Trophy Goats at our fabulous Raetihi block. If Clay Bird shooting interests you, we can provide that here as well!  In addition to a Full Day hunt, we can provide you and your family with overnight accommodation at the hunting block itself. There are 2 self contained units - private - with their own kitchens, bath and bedrooms. A perfect way to relax and dwell on a fabulous day hunting and enjoying nature.

Kaimanawa Blocks - nestled in the Kaimanawa ranges, southeast of Taupo, we offer not 1, but 4 blocks for your family hunting adventure. You will have access to both Red and Sika Deer as well as Trophy animals. These blocks are true back to nature blocks.  They are for the hardened and skilled hunter.  You need to bring your camping gear as these blocks are overnight hunts ONLY.

Fishing
Since we are centrally located in Rotorua, New Zealand, we can provide you with literally hundreds of fantastic locations for Lake and River trout fishing.  We can provide you with a custom package using experienced guides.  Combine a fishing and hunting adventure to make a truly memorable stay.

We offer a number of attractive pricing options tailored to your specific requirements. Our pricing is dependant on transportation, accommodation, type of animal hunted, supply of equipment and the number of guests joining you on your adventure. Prices may change without notice.

Not a hunter? No Problem!! Come and enjoy the outdoors only 15 minutes from Rotorua by 4-wheel drive, or take a short scenic flight by helicopter to our Mamaku block. Take the opportunity to walk through the bush, breath the fresh air and take photos of Deer in the wild. Be wined & dined in our bushman’s hut before returning to Rotorua.
